This exquisite, one-of-a-kind diamond necklace and earring set boasts 7.05 carats of old-cut diamonds. Each diamond in this set is distinct in both shape and cut, ranging from old mine cuts to old European cuts, with shapes that include round, cushion, and a captivating pear-shaped stone that finishes the lariat drop elegantly.
Highlighting the inherent charm of each antique diamond, every setting has been hand-carved to match the unique contours of its stone, allowing for a natural, fluid movement that perfectly complements the dazzling sparkle.
These diamonds carry an incredible history, originally belonging to a family that fled Poland during WWI. Known as “currency” stones, they were sewn into clothing for safekeeping as the family escaped, and they remained untouched in the family’s collection for over a century. Their remarkable story and untouched quality makes them particularly mesmerising.
The set includes a Victorian-era 18ct gold curb chain measuring 14.60 inches and 4.5mm wide. Each link bears a crown and "18" hallmark, attesting to its antique origin. Some of the hallmarks are lightly worn, yet many remain crisp and clear. With a large bolt ring and a dog clip, the chain is incredibly versatile, allowing you to style it alone or pair it with other extenders and chains. The bolt ring and dog clip also securely attach to the diamond lariat, adding the option to personalise the piece further by adding charms or pendants to the bolt ring.
The diamond lariat itself is 7.91 inches in total length (approx. 7.25mm wide, with each diamond element varying slightly). With the connecting link placed at 4.92 inches, the necklace has a wearable length of 19.52 inches and a further drop of 2.99 inches, forming a perfect lariat style.
The diamond earrings in this set mirror the elegance of the necklace, with secure, comfortable large earring-backs.
The London Assay Office are scheduled to hallmark the lariat and the earrings, and the set will be ready to ship from the week commencing November 18, 2024.
