An exceptional early 20th-century example of the coveted Il Bat Pour Toi love token, crafted in 18ct gold and attributed to Perroud. Earlier Perroud pieces (c.1910-1930) are far less commonly encountered than the later post-war medallions, and this pendant displays all the hallmarks of early production: sculpturally modelled cherubs, a deeper radiating ground and a mellow antique patina developed over a century of wear.

At its centre, two winged cherubs raise their hammers over a heart-shaped synthetic ruby beneath the original banner “Il Bat Pour Toi” - “It beats for you”. These sentimental pendants were exchanged as declarations of devotion, the heart symbolising the giver’s own, and the cherubs acting as guardians of that affection. Today, they remain meaningful gifts not only for a partner or loved one, but also as a symbolic keepsake for oneself: a reminder of self-worth, resilience and the inner spark that keeps one’s own heart beating forward.

The surrounding engine-turned ripple frame catches the light with a flame-like effect, adding movement and energy that distinguish early Perroud designs from later, more uniform versions. Stamped with the French eagle head for 18ct gold and bearing the Perroud maker’s mark, this pendant carries the subtle irregularities and character expected of an authentic early example. Its craftsmanship, scarcity and preserved detail place it firmly within the most collectable tier of French sentimental jewellery.
