This exquisite Victorian-era crescent pendant has been skillfully converted from a brooch, blending celestial symbolism with timeless elegance. Crafted in the late 19th century, the crescent is adorned with 25 rose-cut diamonds set into gothic fleur-de-lis spikes, enhancing its distinctive and intricate design. Surrounding the crescent are 7 graduated pearls, believed to be natural owing to their unique imperfections visible under magnification.
The front of the crescent is crafted in silver, while the back is gold, tested as approximately 15-carat gold using an XRF machine, although no noticeable hallmarks are present.The crescent measures 32mm long (excluding the bail) and 30mm wide, weighing 7.96 grams. The contemporary, handcrafted bail complements the antique crescent, offering a modern touch that suits the piece's weight and proportions.
In good antique condition, the pendant exhibits a tiny historic repair to the crescent's side, likely from its brooch pin replacement in the past.
