A beautifully executed and substantial bicolour trombone (fetter) link chain, combining the richness of antique elements with thoughtfully recrafted gold links.
 
This striking piece is composed of newly hand-formed links in 18ct yellow and white gold, created from recycled gold that has been melted down and individually reworked into elongated trombone links. Due to this handmade process, there are the slightest natural variations between links, subtle and only noticeable on very close inspection, lending the chain a wonderfully authentic, antique-inspired character when worn.
 
While the chain is predominantly yellow and white gold, a small number of the round interlinks display a slightly warmer undertone. This is a natural result of the refining process used when crafting the links from recycled gold, and adds further depth and individuality to the piece.
 
The links have been stamped ‘18’, with many of the stamps intentionally softened and slightly faded in appearance to echo the look and feel of genuine antique hallmarks, blending seamlessly with the original components.
 
Paired with these newly formed links are original antique fittings, including a beautifully proportioned dog clip stamped with a crown ‘18’ and EW&S maker’s mark, along with an antique bolt ring clasp. The bolt ring bears a slightly double-struck stamp (appearing as ‘15ct’ at first glance); however, it has been XRF tested at approximately 17.58ct, confirming it as consistent with 18ct gold.
